How renting, deposits, delivery, returns, damage, cancellation, refunds and your information work at Shelfli. All times are Indian Standard Time.
1. Rental and pricing
Shelfli rents physical English-language Tinkle and Champak magazines within our delivery area: Manjalpur, Vadodara only for now. More areas will be added later.
You may borrow one or two magazines at a time. Each magazine is priced separately.
The rental period is five days. It starts when the magazine is actually delivered; the return date is the delivery date plus five days. Your order shows the delivery date, each magazine’s return date and the pickup-confirmation deadline.
These are previously owned magazines and may show age-related marks or ordinary wear. Significant existing defects are recorded before dispatch.
A parent or adult guardian must place and manage orders for readers under 18.
Borrowed magazines remain Shelfli’s property. Please return the same physical copies you received.

These are our current prices; magazines with a higher printed cover price may have a different rent, security or rental period, always shown before you order. Vintage pricing applies to magazines specifically marked as vintage, whatever their printed cover price. The exact rent, security and total payable are shown before payment. Standard delivery and scheduled return collection are included; there is no separate delivery charge.
2. Security deposit
The security deposit is separate from the rent. It is held against outstanding extension charges, evidenced damage or loss, and missing or damaged reusable packaging.
The deposit for each magazine is shown before payment. With two magazines, the two deposits are added together; no deposit reduction currently applies.
Each order is settled separately. We don’t keep a rolling balance or ask for top-ups; a new order needs a fresh payment and deposit.
After return and inspection, we refund the deposit less any valid, itemised deductions. Every deduction is reviewed by Shelfli, names the magazine or pouch it relates to and comes with supporting evidence.
Damage to one magazine does not affect the deposit for the other.
A deduction is never an automatic debit from your bank account.
Late-extension charges continue at the published daily rate while a magazine is overdue and can exceed the deposit. Any amount above the deposit is shown in your settlement and is never collected automatically.
If you disagree with a deduction, please contact us; we review the condition records and your explanation before closing the complaint.
3. Delivery and collection
We deliver in Manjalpur, Vadodara only for now; more areas will be added later.
Orders received by 1:00 pm are eligible for same-day delivery, and orders after 1:00 pm for the next available day — always subject to stock, payment verification, serviceability and rider availability.
Our target delivery and collection window is 4:00–7:00 pm. Your confirmed delivery date appears in your order.
Delivery and collection are made by a delivery service or an authorised Shelfli representative. Please give an accurate address and a reachable adult contact, and have an adult available in the window.
If a handover can’t be completed, we contact you and check the rider’s status before arranging the next step. Tell us promptly if an order shows as delivered but hasn’t reached you.
We tell you about significant delays and agree a revised arrangement. You are not charged for extra rental time caused solely by Shelfli or its delivery partner.
Hand returns only to the rider or representative authorised by Shelfli.
Each magazine has its own return date, shown in My orders.
To return on the return date: confirm pickup in My orders by 1:00 pm that day. We collect between 4:00 and 7:00 pm.
If you miss the 1:00 pm deadline: same-day collection can’t be arranged. Collection moves to the next day and that day is charged at ₹2 per magazine; the same applies each further day until pickup is confirmed.
Extension options: ₹2 per magazine for one additional day, or ₹5 per magazine for a three-day block (₹4 or ₹10 for two magazines). Request the three-day block before 1:00 pm on the return date; Shelfli confirms the revised return date and charge. Daily and block charges are never both applied to the same days.
Extension charges appear in your settlement and may be deducted from your refundable security deposit.
There is no extra charge if you confirmed pickup on time and were ready, but collection was delayed by Shelfli or its delivery partner. If a technical problem stopped you confirming in time, contact us.
Once you hand the magazines to our authorised rider, you are not responsible for the rider’s later transport delay.
Early returns and a different pickup date are arranged through support for now, subject to rider availability. An early return for convenience doesn’t automatically qualify for a rent refund.
5. Condition, damage and loss
Please keep magazines dry and away from food, liquids and rough handling. Don’t write in them, cut or remove pages, add stickers or try to repair them.
We record each copy’s condition before dispatch and compare it after return. Please check your delivery and tell us promptly about a wrong item or significant existing damage; photos or a short video help. A late report doesn’t remove your right to raise a genuine problem.
New scribbling, tearing, water damage, missing pages, loss or other damage beyond ordinary use may lead to a deduction. You are not charged for ordinary wear, recorded pre-existing defects, or damage caused by Shelfli or its delivery partner.
Situation
Assessment basis
Minor, repairable damage
25% of that magazine’s printed cover price
Lost or irreparably damaged magazine with a printed cover price up to ₹100
1.5 × its printed cover price
Lost or irreparably damaged magazine with a printed cover price of ₹101–₹200
That magazine’s full security deposit (not refunded)
Lost or irreparably damaged vintage magazine
₹200 (its full security deposit)
These amounts are subject to evidence and an assessment of reasonable repair or replacement loss, and are reviewed by Shelfli before any deduction. Ordinary marks are not charged, and a deposit is kept in full only for a lost or irreparably damaged magazine as shown above, after review. The same damage is never charged as both a repair and a loss. You can ask for any deduction to be reviewed.
6. Packaging
Your magazines arrive in a reusable zip pouch identified by a Bag ID, with protective backing where supplied.
Please return the same pouch and backing with your magazines, keep it clean, and don’t remove or alter its identification or swap it for another bag.
Ordinary packaging wear is not charged. If a pouch is lost or damaged beyond ordinary use, ₹10 per pouch is deducted from your refundable security deposit, with an itemised explanation.
There is no separate packaging charge or deposit: the pouch is covered by your refundable security deposit, and losing a pouch never means losing your whole deposit.
7. Cancellation
You can cancel until 2:00 pm on the scheduled delivery day and receive a full refund of the rent and security paid for the cancelled items. This includes orders placed after the previous day’s 1:00 pm cutoff.
After 2:00 pm on the delivery day, orders can’t be cancelled, because the magazines are being prepared for delivery.
If Shelfli can’t fulfil your order, we offer a rescheduled delivery for you to accept, or refund the amounts paid for the unfulfilled items. You don’t have to accept store credit.
The cancellation cutoff doesn’t affect your remedies for non-delivery, a wrong item, a materially defective item or another service failure.
8. Refunds and replacements
Security refunds after return
We aim to inspect returned items within 24 hours of receipt and start the eligible security refund within two working days of receipt. You don’t need to ask for it.
Your settlement shows the security received, any extension, damage, loss or packaging deductions, the refund, and the refund reference when available.
Your bank or payment provider may take extra time to credit the refund. If a deduction is disputed, we explain it and refund the undisputed balance without holding the whole deposit.
Wrong or materially defective magazines
Contact us promptly. We offer a suitable available replacement, or a refund of the rent paid for the affected magazine. Shelfli bears the transport cost needed to correct its error. With a replacement, the rental period starts again when it reaches you; with a refund, that magazine’s security is also returned after it comes back, subject only to unrelated valid charges. An unaffected second magazine is settled separately.
Payment problems
For a duplicate payment, or money taken without a confirmed order, contact us with the payment reference and we’ll verify it and arrange the refund. Refunds normally go to the original payment method; any other method is agreed with the payer. We will never ask for your UPI PIN, OTP or banking password.
9. Terms and conditions
Shelfli provides temporary rental of physical magazines; payment doesn’t transfer ownership.
Orders are subject to stock, payment verification, delivery serviceability and confirmation.
Customers must give accurate contact and delivery details. A parent or adult guardian must manage borrowing for a minor.
The prices, deposits, return dates and policies shown and accepted for your order apply to that order.
Please return the exact copies and reusable packaging supplied; don’t sell, lend on or substitute borrowed items.
Charges follow the published rental, extension, damage and packaging policies. We don’t charge undisclosed fees.
We may decline new borrowing while an earlier return or payment is unresolved; existing refunds and complaints are still handled.
If an item becomes unavailable after payment, we ask you to agree an alternative or refund the affected amount.
Policy changes apply to future orders; we never raise charges on an existing order retrospectively.
These terms don’t exclude any rights or remedies you have under applicable consumer law.
We collect what we need to manage rentals: the adult customer’s name, contact details, delivery address, order history, payment references and return records. We use it to process payments and orders, arrange delivery and collection, send order, return and refund updates, keep inventory and condition records, resolve complaints and meet record-keeping obligations.
Delivery partners receive only the contact and address details needed for their job. Our website, hosting and payment providers process relevant information to provide their services.
Condition videos focus on the magazines and their identifiers. When sending evidence, please avoid faces, children, private conversations or unrelated personal information.
Access to customer information and condition records is limited to authorised people who need it. We never sell your information or publish your address, orders or condition evidence for marketing.
Marketing messages are optional and separate from essential order messages; you can ask us to stop them.
We keep information only as long as needed for operations, disputes and legal requirements. Contact us to request access, correction or deletion; some records may need to be kept.
Please use an adult’s contact details for a child’s borrowing. We don’t need a child’s school details or identity documents.
